Allen Regehr, age 81, of Cambridge died January 18, 2019 at Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, January 26th at Strike Life Tributes in Cambridge. A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until the service starts at 3:00 P.M. Saturday. Inurnment with Military Honors will be in Cambridge Union Cemetery in the Spring.
Allen Merrel Regehr was born December 26, 1937 in Mountain Lake, Minnesota to parents Henry and Mabel. He passed away on January 18, 2019.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 18 and served his country for 20 years both stateside and in Germany, Iran, Libya, Korea and three tours in Vietnam. While in Vietnam, he and Marvel began a courtship by correspondence and as soon as the war ended, he flew home to ask her to marry him. On May 5, 1973 they were married at Karmel Covenant Church in Princeton. Their daughter Lisa was born in Texas and he retired in 1976. They came home to Cambridge and son Marc was born in 1978. Allen worked at the Isanti County Highway Department for 27 years and retired (again) in 2004. He enjoyed working in his shop, gardening, and memorizing every single episode of Gunsmoke.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Floyd and Neil and sister, Pauline Anderson. He is survived by his wife, Marvel; daughter, Lisa of Andover; son, Marc of Rush City; sisters, Joanne Hoekstra of St. Cloud, Carolyn (Bob) Sutter of Grand Junction, Michigan and Nanette (Darryl) Schwartz of Sleepy Eye; sister-in-law, Nancy Regehr of Spring Lake Park and brother-in-law, Doug (Esther) Anderson of Bellingham, Washington and many nieces and nephews.
