Gerald R. Plowman, age 84, of Princeton died January 16, 2019 at St. Cloud Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 22 at Oxlip Evangelical Free Church in rural Isanti, with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service at the church. A visitation will also be held 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Monday, January 21st at the church.
Gerald Ray Plowman was born February 21, 1934 in Willmar, Minnesota, to Albert and Florence (Ulferts) Plowman. He was raised in Willmar and graduated from Willmar High School. He then attended Dunwoody and specialized in Tool and Die. Gerry worked for Univac most of his career and retired at age 55 to pursue a remodeling and a general contracting business. On June 17, 1955 he married Muriel Ledeboer in Minneapolis. They made their home in Minneapolis until 1990 when they moved to Blue Lake in rural Zimmerman. His wife, Muriel, died on January 25, 2002. Gerry married Arlene Hoffman on December 26, 2002 in Hastings and they made their home on Blue Lake. They moved to Princeton in 2015. Gerry was an active member at Oxlip Evangelical Free Church in rural Isanti. He enjoyed woodworking and was a very active volunteer with both the Bibles for Missions Thrift Store in Crystal and Sunbeam Boys Home in Jamaica. Gerry will be deeply missed by his family and by his many friends.
Gerald died unexpectedly at the St. Cloud Hospital on January 16, 2019 at the age of 84 years. He is survived by his wife, Arlene of Princeton; children, Renee (Peter) Tjapkes of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Brad Plowman (Chiquita) of Shoreview, Gary (Jill) Plowman of Cokato, David Plowman of Long Beach, California, Jeffry (Sue) Pap of Owatonna, Scott (Diane) Pap of Hastings, Laurie (John) Walsh of Star Prairie, Wisconsin; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorna Best of Farmington, Shary (Tom) Mulhere of Minneapolis; and by many other relatives and friends.
