James Wilfred Bostrom, age 80, of Isanti, died May 23, 2019 in Brooklyn Park. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 1st at Strike Life Tributes – CAMBRIDGE with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service. There will also be a visitation from 4 – 8 P.M. on Friday, May 31st at our Cambridge location. Interment will be in Fridsborg Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Isanti VFW Post 2735.
James Wilfred Bostrom was born on October 28, 1938 in Minneapolis to Wilfred and Gladys (Erickson) Bostrom. He was raised in Isanti and graduated from Cambridge High School, Class of 1956. Jim then served in the Army from 1961 – 1963. After his military service he came back to Isanti. On September 26, 1964 he married Carol Brust. They made their home in Blaine for 12 years and moved to Isanti in 1977. Jim was employed as an airplane mechanic for Northwest Airlines for 45 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of West Bethel United Methodist Church for many years. He enjoyed going to auctions, hunting, fishing, yard work and working with his John Deere tractors. Jim was a mechanic, and it’s been said he could repair almost anything. He and Carol enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and spent 15 winters in Arizona, and used it as their “cabin” in the summer at Pequot Lakes, Minnesota.
Jim had a major stroke and died on May 23, 2019 at J. A. Wedum Hospice Residence in Brooklyn Park at the age of 80 years. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas James Bostrom. He is survived by his wife, Carol of Isanti; 2 children, Brian (Kerri) Bostrom of Stanchfield; Angela Bostrom of Isanti; 2 grandchildren, Jenna Rae Bostrom and Kyle John Bostrom of Stanchfield; 3 siblings, Jerry (Renate) Bostrom of Osceola, Wisconsin, Betty (Norman) Laschinger of Wyoming, Minnesota, Larry (Karen) Bostrom of Aitkin, Minnesota; and by many other relatives and friends.
