Irwin Eddie Falk was born September 27, 1922 in Blomford, Minnesota to Edward and Amanda (Nord) Falk. He grew up on the family farm and attended District 24 Country School in Blomford. Irwin loved farming and lived on the farm until he needed assisted living a short time ago. He had a good sense of humor and would joke around with his family. He enjoyed the many family picnics at the farm on Sunday’s over the years. Irwin loved the outdoors, deer hunting and turkey hunting. Spare time might have been spent watching polka music on TV or listening to Swedish music. He led a long simple, yet productive life. Irwin was very kind, honest and hardworking. He will be dearly missed.
Irwin is survived by his sister-in-law, Ruthie Falk; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bertel, Clifton, Herbert and Willard Falk; and sisters, Inez Herring, Viona Sandstrom, Evelyn Falk, Regina Eastlund and Ardys Johnson.

My condolences to the Falk Family for the loss of this beloved brother, friend, and my uncle. I did not meet Irwin until 1983 when I traveled to Minnesota for a reunion. Irwin’s big sister, Inez, was my mother. Due to distance and other circumstances, I didn’t meet many of the family until much later in my life, but I was enamored of all of my numerous aunts, uncles and cousins — particularly, Irwin who was generous, kind, welcoming and made me laugh. His lifetime of maintaining the family farm was such an inspiration. He spent much time with me showing me around the home in which my mother and her siblings were raised, even mowing down the tall mosquito infested weeds to show me the location of their first cabin on the land. So many stories — I will miss his brief presence in my life.
Louise (Herring) and Don Thurman says
We were so sorry to hear of Irwin’s passing. Irwin was my Uncle — my Mother was his older sister, Inez.
Years ago cross-country travel wasn’t the norm so my first opportunity to really meet Uncle Irwin — outside of family news in letters shared by my Mother — were the Falk reunions in 2003 and again in 2007. My memories of him are warm and endearing to me. He generously shared his time and recollections of growing up on the farm with his siblings — he made a point to show us the original homestead and even my Mom’s bedroom that she shared with her sisters.
Our hearts go out to the Falk Family … Uncle Irwin was an integral member of a large family with rich traditions and a long history to be proud of. I am honored to have met Uncle Irwin and treasure my memories of our all-too-brief visits.

Uncle Irwin was a very dear man. He was kind, generous, and had a great sense of humor.
Although my sons weren’t able to spend a lot of time with my relatives in Cambridge when they were growing up, Uncle Irwin made a very positive impression on them. They admired his lifestyle and values, and have fond memories of him.
I have many pictures of Irwin in my mind from my childhood until I saw him last fall when he was working on some equipment in his garage. One memory that sticks out in my mind is probably the same event that Carolyn and Louise described, when he took some of us nieces to the cabin where Grandpa and Grandma Falk lived before they built their house. At that moment, Irwin gave us a very moving glimpse into the past and the history of the family that no words alone could have expressed.

Memories of my Irwin
Fond memories: Going through the corn fields hunting pheasant; when he had a crow and tried to domesticate it; how we use to bail hay, shocking grain and threshing with a tractor. I remember family and friends called him Mickey.
In 1990, when we went back for my dads funeral (Clifton), I went to a threshing show with my uncles, Irwin and Bertal. A guy was there who was demonstrating how to plow with a horse and he asked if anyone was interested in trying it, Irwin volunteered. My wife remembers visiting him in the farm house, being soft-spoken, having gentle eyes and a great sense of humor…such fond memories. He will be greatly missed.

We will miss Irwin. He was a kind man with a quick wit, loved his sense of humor.
He was part of the hunting party my husband Scott joined some years after we moved to Cambridge and became Irwin’s neighbors. He sure did love to hunt!!
We are sad to miss the service on Saturday and offer our condolences to the Falk family.

Uncle Irwin was my Great Uncle. I have many memories of him from the “Falk Farm” including all the family picnics. Irwin and I had a plan…. turning the barn into a dance hall! Of course, there would be polka music and Swedish music too…. our plan was to find him a nice woman. Well, we never did fulfill the dream of a dance hall or finding him a great woman to settle down with. He was happiest at the farm and “tinkering” in the sheds. Many memories over the years at Grandma Regina’s and other places. I was glad that my family and I had opportunities to be with him over the years- he was a real special guy.😀He was loved ❤️ by many and will be remembered fondly.
