Kareen Englund, age 81, of Isanti passed away peacefully November 10, 2019 at The Estates at Linden in Stillwater. A memorial visitation will be held from 5 – 8 PM Wednesday, November 13th at Strike Life Tributes in Isanti. A memorial service will be held at 5 PM Thursday, November 14th at Long Lake Lutheran Church with a visitation also one hour prior to the service at the church.
Kareen Mabie Englund was born February 19, 1938 to Lester and Catherine Mabie in Kennan, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard and her brother, Duane Mabie. Survived by her two sons, David Englund of Isanti and Doug (Alice) Englund of Osceola, WI; her granddaughter, Amanda Englund of New Richmond, WI and great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Dahl; her brother, Sherburn (Ginger) Mabie of Kennan, WI; and several other family and close friends.
Kareen grew up in Kennan, WI and graduated in 1956 from Phillips, WI high school. She married Richard Englund on July 26, 1958. Richard and Kareen ran Englund Heating & K’s Lunch Wagons for several years. After selling those businesses and moving to Hinckley, MN she became a black jack dealer at Hinckley Casino for 6 ½ years and upon retirement they moved back to Isanti to enjoy their retirement.
Kareen enjoyed cake decorating and sewing. She was very well known for her sewing skills; she has made several quilts over the years and was always very proud of her work. She could never have enough fabric to choose from and was always searching for new patterns to make.
Kareen passed away peacefully on November 10, 2019 at the Estates at Linden in Stillwater, MN at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 22 days. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Estates at Linden and the staff of Lakeview Hospice for their great care of Kareen in her final months.
