Leo V. Broberg, age 56, of Mora died January 11, 2020 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. A Visitation to honor his life will be held from 4:00 PM – 7 PM Friday, January 17th at Strike Life Tributes – Cambridge.
Leo Vernon Broberg was born September 3, 1963 to Arlan and Dorothy Broberg in Homestead. Leo’s family moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1966, making Minnesota their home. Leo attended Riverview Elementary and Jackson Jr. High, before moving with his parents and brother in 1978 to Minnesota’s Iron Range making Cook, Minnesota their home. Leo graduated from Cook High School in 1982. After High School Leo met the love of his life, Marie Kowalzek, and together they had Leo’s only two children, Matthew John and AmyJo. In 1988 Leo became employed as a company sign installer with Arrow Signs in Ham Lake, Minnesota. He was GOOD at what he did, and he remained employed with Arrow Signs for many years.
Leo’s interests included, country music, mud trucks, tractor pulls, derby racing, muscle cars…he has quite the collection of muscle car models that he built himself, his children and being a doting grandpa to his three grandchildren…Nathan Steven, Alexis Marie and Hunter Allen…They were TRULY Grandpa’s pride and joy.
Leo is survived by his father, Arlan Broberg, Sr.; sisters, Joan Johnson and Jeannie McNamara; brother, Arlan Broberg, Jr.; son, Matthew John Broberg; daughter, AmyJo Torkelson; and grandchildren, Nathan Steven and Alexis Marie Torkelson and Hunter Allen Broberg.
Leo is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Leo and Clara Heath; paternal grandparents, Vernon and Judith Broberg; mother, Dorothy Broberg; and sister, Melody Morrissey.
