Peter Maxwell Kabanuk, age 83, of Cambridge died December 17, 2019 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. A memorial visitation will be held from 5 – 7 PM Thursday, JANUARY 9th at Strike Life Tributes in Cambridge. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, JANUARY 10th at Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel, 1 Tower Ave, Minneapolis with a time for visiting also one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery with Military Honors. Following the Honors a reception will be held at Richfield VFW Post 5555, 6715 Lakeshore Drive, Richfield.
Peter Maxwell Kabanuk was born April 5th, 1936 in Max, North Dakota to Max and Hazel (Zahursky) Kabanuk. He was raised and attended school in Max and Minot, North Dakota. After high school, Peter served his country in the US Air Force. On June 2nd, 1962, he married Carol Ann Gjerstad and they made their home in the Minneapolis area. Peter spent his working years as an airline mechanic for North Central Airlines and as a Forman for the Cream of Wheat company. Upon retirement, Peter most enjoyed getting coffee at local establishments, visiting with family and friends, and working on endless fix-it projects.
Peter M. Kabanuk passed away December 17, 2019 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 12 days. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Marlys, Art, Donny, Martha, Ed and Ernie.
Peter is survived by his wife, Carol; sons Peter J. (Pamela), Kenneth Kabanuk; daughter Jennifer (Kevin) Roeder; siblings Allen (Wilma), Dennis (Ruth) Kabanuk, Shirley Brown; grandchildren Jake, Hannah, Zackary, Savanna, Julia and John; as well as many relatives and friends.
My sympathy to the family of Peter. We were in grade school together for a few years. I was in his brother Art’s grade, a real true friend. We lived about a mile west of their farm. I get to Mahtomedi a couple times a year and would like to connect with the family some time when there. Iv’e tried phone books but this day and age everone has cell phones. My phone =701-462-3368.
