Howard Braastad, age 89, of Braham, formerly of Ham Lake, died at his home on May 21, 2020. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 5th at Strike Life Tributes in Isanti. Visitation will begin 1 hour prior to the service. Click below to watch the live stream service.
Howard Irvin Braastad was born April 25, 1931 in Fairmont, Minnesota to Archie and Seraphine (Frandle) Braastad. He was raised and attended school in Blue Earth. In 1948 he moved with his family to Cedar. Howard married Mildred Sinderson on August 28, 1954 in Spring Lake Park. They made their home in Anoka County living in several locations over the years. as well as 10 years in Wisconsin and many winters in Arizona. They moved to Braham 15 years ago. Howard was a self-made man and entrepreneur who dabbled in several business interests, including anything automotive, gas stations, farming and running a flea market in Wisconsin for several years. He enjoyed going to auctions and garage sales searching out deals, gardening and caring for his lawn. Though he frequently worked from sunrise to sunset, his family always came first. Howard was a hardworking man, a people person with a caring heart and a strong faith in God .
“A beautiful life that came to an end, he died as he lived, everyone’s friend. In our hearts a memory will always be kept, of one we loved, and will never forget”.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by sister, Angeline; brother, Kenneth; twin brother, Harold. Howard is survived by his wife, Mildred; children, Sandra (Kevin) Fisher, James Braastad, Paula (Steve) Carlson, Beth (Dave) Sturdevant, John Braastad; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Marlene Atkins; brother, Ronald (Shirley) Braastad; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Braastad, Delaine Braastad; and by many other relatives and friends.
