Brett R. Simonson, age 58, of Isanti died October 11, 2020 at home. A private gathering will be held. Memorials are suggested.
Brett Roger Simonson, born September 15, 1962 of Isanti, Minnesota, died unexpectedly October 11, 2020 at his home at the age of 58.
To those who knew him the loss is profound. He will always be remembered for his witty, sarcastic sense of humor, quiet presence and kind hearted, loving nature. He was a simple man who loved music, movies, video games, memes, and a more recent love for snap chat filters. He was the first to offer help, a joke, or an encouragement. He held a profound ability to be a calming presence or a safe place, for those who needed it the most.
Brett is survived by his son, David (Rhea) Simonson; his mother, Jackie Englund; his brother, Jeremy Englund; his nieces and nephew, Torah, Joshua and Adalyn Englund. He also was a beloved friend to many.
Brett was preceded in death by his dad, Dean Englund; his brother, Bart Simonson, and his nephew, Nathan Englund.

I first met Brett in junior high – we both had kind of a twisted sense of humor. I remember sitting in study hall and composing “off color” limericks and poems with him – the teacher would get pretty angry with us because we would be laughing so hard at the stuff we came up with instead of being quiet. Funny guy – he always made me laugh. We’ll see you on the other side my friend! Cambridge High School class of 1980.

Brett was one of the best co-workers I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with! He was a helpful, patient, kind and caring human being and it showed in everything he did for others. I consider myself blessed to have known him and I know he will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched!

Brett had such a positive impact on so many people, often times people he didn’t even know. He was funny, friendly, and honestly one of the most decent human beings I’ve ever known.
I remember my first day of working with him, I explained that the computer system login was everyone’s first and last initials but said he could use something different if he wanted to. He said “No, this is perfect for me… don’t change it.”
My condolences to the Simonson and Englund families, thank you for sharing him with the rest of us during his time on this Earth.
