Elizabeth “Betty” Wyatt, age 90, of Isanti went home to be with the Lord December 29, 2020. A public memorial visitation will be held from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM Friday, January 8th, followed by a PRIVATE memorial service at 11:00 AM, at Strike Life Tributes in Isanti. Masks and social distancing required. Burial will be in the spring at Old Bethel Cemetery.
Betty was born on January 16, 1930 in Cambridge MN on the family farm in a home built by her grandfather. The daughter of John and Mable (Anderson) Johnson, they lived on the family farm until the late 1930’s and Betty attended grade school at Moody school but soon moved to Isanti district #9. As the eldest girl in her family of six children, Betty was tasked at a young age with the care of her younger siblings. These early years of hardship and responsibility forged in Betty a will of iron, a rich sense of generosity, and a deep faith. She graduated from Cambridge High School and was very involved in the youth group at Elim Baptist Church Isanti.
Betty married the love of her life, Gordy Wyatt, in 1954 and they shared 57 ½ amazing years together. Betty and Gordy built their dream home in 1971 on the banks of the Rum River. They never had children but curated strong bonds with their families, and nieces and nephews, and community. Together they lived a life of hard work and adventure. They had several airplanes and motor homes, snowmobiles and ATVs, traveling all over the country, and hosting adventures along the Rum River. Betty got her pilot’s license so the two of them could fly together, she wanted to be prepared if something happened to Gordy. Snowmobiling in the West Yellowstone area was a yearly favorite.
Betty was a loyal friend, a faithful part of New Hope Church (formerly Elim Baptist), a warm and gracious hostess and a generous loving aunt and sister.
Betty was preceded in death by cherished husband Gordy Wyatt, her parents, siblings George Johnson and Dorothy Danca, as well as many other loved ones. Survived by siblings: Janice Johnson, John Johnson and Shirley Lindberg, the Wyatt family, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and so many friends.

My bond with aunt Betty and uncle Gordy was formed when I was a tyke. Regular visits to Gordy‘s older sister, my mom Jane Sanders (Wyatt) were always a thrill. I remember specifically wonderful fruit salads from aunt Betty and monopoly games and the occasional plane ride from uncle Gordy. Later on, when I was visiting my relatives alone as a Teenager, I was hosted by Betty and Gordy at their house on the Rum. One day Betty suggested I take the boat out and I caught my first ever smallmouth bass on the rum River. RIP aunt Betty. Our loss will be heaven’s gain.

I am so sorry to read of Betty’s passing. Betty was such a special lady.. Always with a smile and kind words. We enjoyed knowing her through what used to be the Monaco Northcentral RV club for many years. Both she and Gordy were Special! She will be missed. RIP Betty. ❤️

Many fond memories of her sweet spirit, loving smile and tender ways when we had family gathering at my sister Kristie and husband Steve Danca’s home. Now you and Gordy are together again.

Many memories. Meeting at Northrup King in 1950, our wedding where Gordy and Betty reconnected, water skiing at Turtle Lake, snowmobiling in Canada and Yellowstone, fishing at Lake of the Woods, eating out in so many different places in MN and WI, years of bowling as the Wyatt Team, replaced by golfing, picking out our burial spots and selecting our head stones. Years of breakfast together at the Creamery were always colorful and now God has called you home. God’s peace and strength be with your family.
