Michael H. Overby, age 71, of Cambridge died May 4, 2021. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Friday, May 21st at Strike Life Tributes in Cambridge.
Michael Herbert Overby was born June 19, 1949 in Two Harbors, Minnesota to Harold and Margaret (Nelson) Overby. He grew up and attended school in Two Harbors. Mike married Carol Riley in 1977 and they made their home in the Isanti/Cambridge area. In 2000 they moved to Hoyt Lakes. Carol passed away in 2018 and a year later Mike moved back to Cambridge. Mike enjoyed old cars, playing cards and scrabble, collecting antiques, and especially watching his grandchildren play sports.
Michael died May 4, 2021 at the age of 71. Mike is survived by five children, Lisa Rhoden, Scott (Alicia) Overby, Ernie (Megan) Overby, Loren (Amy) Overby, and Lonny Overby; six siblings, Kenny (Jean) Overby, Helen (Bob) Byrne, Bill (Katherine) Overby, Charles Overby, Peggy Ollila and Tina Hanson; 13 grandchildren; and by many other relatives and friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; brother, Roger; and close brother-in-law, Steve Hanson.
My heart is with all of Mikeys family and friends during this difficult time.
He will be lovingly remembered by many of us.
May your body Rest In Peace my friend, as your soul flys high in heaven. I will forever miss you.
our hearts are with all of Mike’s family. he is going to be missed so much. so many great memories especially the Springvale weekends…visiting at their home near Isanti… having picnics with them and raising our children together… broken down cars and lots of card games. .. lots of bonfires and watching the coals burn down while we visited and shared about our lives. God bless mike and Carol and all their family.
I finally met Mike when he moved back to Cambridge. I had heard about him for at least 10 years. He was a legend before I even met him! I’m so thankful that I got to be a friend to him. My heart goes out to his children and grandchildren and other family members! God bless you all.
Mike saved my life, my marriage, and my husbands life and I have missed having him in my life since my husband passed in 2012. Had not seen Mike for years but he had been in my thoughts and prayers for years. Prayers go out to his family and so many friends that I know will miss him so very much.
