Bruce W. Carlston, age 74, of Isanti and Port Charlotte, FL died July 8, 2021. A Memorial Visitation will be held 2:00-5:00 PM, Saturday, September 11th at Golden Valley Country Club, 7001 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley, Minnesota 55427. Memorials preferred to Wounded Warriors.
Bruce was a Purple Heart Recipient, Marine, Brother, Father and Grandfather.
He is preceded in death by parents, Robert and Rosamond; brothers, Lary and Steve.
Bruce is survived by brother, Marty; sisters, Ginny Pledger and Bobbi Sye; 4 children, Scott, Tom, Kory, Monique; and 6 grandchildren.
He will be missed by his devoted friend, Cinda Raymond. Bruce was proud of his family and with the support of his family and friends was able to come to rekindle his pride in being a U.S. Marine. Upon recovering from his physical wounds from Vietnam, he went to the Control Data Institute and worked his entire career for Control Data. Bruce was proud to have retired young and loved spending time between his homes and friends in Florida and Minnesota. Bruce was a lifetime tinkerer and story teller. He loved fixing worn down and broken items to give them new life, telling stories of bikes, boats, motorcycles and mischief that he and his friends created as kids. Although, he would still probably deny any knowledge of a dump fire in Balsam Lake. His wit and intelligence will be missed by all those that knew him.
David MacDonald says
Bruce, you will be missed by many. I’m sorry I did not get to see you again as it was in my near future plans. Have thought about you often and all those days of working together, having lunch together and even the times I visited you at your home in Minnesota. To his family my deepest sympathy as I know you will miss him very much.
My condolences to all,
Sincerely,
David MacDonald
