Ronald Rosencrans, age 79, of Cambridge died September 2, 2021 surrounded by family. A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at Keokuk Union Depot in Keokuk, Iowa on September 25th at noon.
Ronald (Ron) Nelson Rosencrans was born January 18, 1942 to Freeman and Elizabeth Rosencrans in Keokuk, IA where he spent his childhood. His first job was delivering the Daily Gate City, riding his bike up and down the streets in Keokuk. He married his true love, Jenny, on July 3, 1965 and they went on to have 2 children, Joelle and Ed. Ron attended the University of Iowa and graduated with a degree in Journalism. His first journalism job was at a newspaper in Decauter, IL where he covered human interest stories. He later moved his family to Minnesota to work at US West, in Minneapolis, as a Communications Manager. Later he started his own small business, writing and publishing a magazine called Underground Focus. Ron and Jenny moved to Northwestern, WI where he continued his business until he retired. Ron loved the outdoors, nature photography, fishing and hunting with family and friends, snowmobiling, four wheeling and outlaw country music. Most of all he loved his family. Spending time with his grandchildren always made him happy.
Ron passed away peacefully on September 2, 2021 surrounded by family at the age of 79 years. Ron is preceded in death by parents, Freeman and Elizabeth Rosencrans; sister, Jenny Ann Medford; brother-in-law, Zeke VanZee; and many dogs who were lucky enough to be by his side.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 56 years, Jenny; daughter, Joelle Allord (Jeff); son, Ed Rosencrans (Karen); grandchildren, Quinton Rosencrans (Zoie), Cassandra Rosencrans, Ryan Allord and Ben Allord; siblings, Kent Rosencrans (Nancy) and Beth VanZee; many nieces and nephews and other loving family members.

My deepest condolences to Jenny and the rest of the family. It’s heartbreaking to hear of Ron’s passing. I am grateful that i had the chance to know both of you.
