Betty Jo Boring was born on January 3, 1936, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Carl and Lillian (Thompson) Glenn. She was the first of 5 children. She accepted Christ as her Savior as a young girl. Betty attended Argentine High School and graduated in 1954. On September 26, 1956, she married Ken Boring. They had 2 children, Jim and Jeff.
Betty spent several years working at St. Francis High School in St. Francis, MN, as a guidance counselor secretary. In 1984, Betty and Ken moved to Crawfordville, Florida, due to a plant closure where Ken worked. There she worked in the Tallahassee school district as a secretary to several of the superintendents. Her husband, Ken, passed away on March 18, 1997, at the age of 59. After Ken’s passing, she worked a few more years in Florida, then retired in 2000. She then moved back to Minnesota to be closer to her kids and grandkids.
Betty attended First Baptist Church in St. Francis and actively served in the Golden Gems ministry. She enjoyed helping to raise her 3 grandchildren and attending many of their school activities. She also loved spoiling her two great grandsons after Sunday morning services by giving them each a sucker in exchange for a hug. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, sewing, and crocheting. She made several afghans for babies, family, and friends. One of her special afghans was of a Betsy Ross flag that won a first-place ribbon at the St. Francis Pioneer Days Art Exhibit.
Betty suffered a stroke on February 13, and then passed away on February 21, 2022, with her two sons by her side at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN.
