I can remember Wayne bringing me and my dad too a Minnesota Fighting Saints game. I was pretty young at the time but it was a really exciting and fast moving game. He really impressed me with his knowledge of the game, and I remember him talking a lot about his coaching. He really enjoyed that! He always seemed to be positive!

We are so sorry to learn of Uncle Waynes passing . Our thoughts and prayers are with you Aunt Barb, cousins Brenda, Stacy, Tina and Wade. There are so many fond memories growing up. Sundays after church when we lived on 40th(1 block from church) . Uncle Wayne, an avid sports fan(especially hockey)watched many Sunday afternoon games in our living room. Wayne & Grpa Schminkey cheering their favorites & talking sports. Uncle Wayne helped me buy my first transistor radio. All the occasions our families got together, even the grandparents & siblings of the Halversons, Butlers, Dahles & Schminkeys. It was different then, extended family was much more far reaching and get-togethers were fairly often(always filled with lots of catching up, good food, laughter and long “goodbyes”) My first babysitting job was Brenda & Stacy (when they lived in the little gray house in Mpls with the big front yard) There was the house painting party Barb & Wayne had one summer weekend about1977. 4th of July weekend at our house in Milaca-Wayne parked their RV on the street, Grma Dahle stayed in Angies bedroom, had a couple pop-up campers in the driveway & a few tents pitched in the back yard. It was a great holiday weekend with lots of activities & late night visiting. I’ve always known Wayne as a father so his family is a big part of my memories of him. He worked hard to provide and get ahead. He was eager to pitch in and help. The last couple times we visited in person he beamed with pride as he shared news of the kids and grandkids. His family truly held his heart. As God blesses your memories with laughter and tears, may you also find comfort. Please know that family and friends care.
