Romayne I. Nelson, age 91, of East Bethel died March 31, 2022 at Cedar Creek Senior Living in East Bethel. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 9th at Strike Life Tributes in Isanti. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Romayne Ida Hortense Johnson was born March 3, 1931 to Nels (Ed) and Mamie (Quist) Johnson in Minneapolis. She had two older brothers, Wallace and Neal. Romayne graduated from North High School in 1949. She met Don in the spring of 1952 at the University of Minnesota. They were married November 15th that same year at Zion Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. They raised their four children (sons Dean and Joel, daughters Carla and Beth) in Brooklyn Center where they lived for 55 years. Along came 7 grandchildren (Axel, Hanna, Angela, Joshua, William, Lucas, and Joseph), and later 17 great-grandchildren who referred to her as GG. Romayne loved her family and was happiest when they were near. Any event was a good excuse for a family party! Good food, coffee and laughter were always abundant. Her kind heart and loving spirit remained with her even through dementia.
Romayne had a steadfast faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She rests in his loving arms!

I always remember the rice pudding that she brought to Grandma and Grandpa Nelson’s house for the holidays years ago. It was her specialty snd so good.
