Thomas R. Thorsen, age 72, of Fridley, Minnesota died April 16, 2022 at home. Tom’s request was to have no memorial service, a casual open house brunch will be held at Elsie’s Banquet Room in NE, Minneapolis on Tom’s birthday April 28 from 11 AM – 1 PM. Because Tom enjoyed nature, rather than flowers or memorial gifts, the family asks that you plant something in his memory. Private Interment – Fridsborg Cemetery East Bethel, Minnesota.
Thomas Robert Thorsen was born April 28, 1949 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Robert and Mary (Stucky) Thorsen. Tom attended McKinley Grade School, Jordan Junior High School and graduated from Henry High School in 1967. Tom served in the US Navy as a Radarman from 1968-1971. He was employed at the US Postal Service from 1971-1982, 1986-2008. He owned the Dalbo Tavern with his good friend Jim Axell from 1982-1986. In 1988 Tom was united in marriage to Carol Soland.
Tom enjoyed crossword puzzles, coin collecting, birds, bees, butterflies, snapdragons, fishing, his cat Stanley and his many dogs, his 1948 Chrysler Windsor, the Beatles, making Waikiki meatballs, Vegas, a good cigar, spicy bloody mary’s, telling jokes and you never dare interrupt him or he would chew you out, and most of all spending time with family and friends.
Tom is survived by wife, Carol; daughter, Laurie (Scott); son, Bobby (Nicole); brothers, Gregg (Stephaine) and Keith; sister, Lori; sister-in-law, Madge; brother-in-law, Scott; granddaughters, Geni and Cheyanne; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Tom passed away peacefully at home April 16, 2022 at the age of 72 after a long battle with COPD. He is preceded in death by parents, Robert and Mary; son, Erick and brother, Bradley.

The moment that comes to mind was when I told and showed Tom a row of dents in his garage door as a result of Eric and myself taping the trigger on his belt sander and watch it fly across the floor until it smacked into the garage door several times, some 15-20 years prior. Never forget his reply ” you know I always wondered how those got there well I guess now I know” as he finished with his classic chuckel/ laugh.
