Verna Mae Donner, age 86, of Stanchfield passed away November 8, 2022 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 14th at Strike Life Tributes in Cambridge with a time for visiting one hour prior.
Verna Mae Donner was born May 19, 1936 in Roberts County, South Dakota to William and Gladys (Keck) Egan. On May 16, 1956 Verna married Donald Nickolauson in Wilmont, SD. Verna and Donald moved to California with their son, Delton for one year then returned to Browns Valley and started farming with her father, William Egan. Donald and Verna had six more children over the next eight years. In 1967 Verna, Donald and all 7 children moved to St. Paul near her sister, Loretta. Verna, Donald and all the children made frequent trips back to SD to visit with family and friends. Verna return to SD in 1997 and remained until 2015 when she went to live with her daughter, Gladys (Tim) Holtz in Stanchfield, MN. Verna enjoyed gardening, cooking spending time with family and spoiling her grandkids.
Verna passed away November 8, 2022 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 20 days after a long battle cancer. Preceding Verna in death and waiting to welcome her to heaven are her parents, William and Gladys (Keck) Egan; three brothers, Francis, Elmer and Clement; and seven sisters, Vida, Viola, Delores, Loretta, Mary Ann, Laura Bell, Rosella. Donald Nickolauson and their four grandchildren Delton Egan, Jeffrey Nickolauson, Holly & Joshua Nickolauson.
Verna will be lovingly remembered and missed by her seven children; Delton Egan, Terry Nickolauson, Brian (Lori) Nickolauson, Cheryl (Dale) Kaufman, Curtis (Christine) Nickolauson, Gladys (Tim) Holtz, Julie Nickolauson; 17 grandchildren, Joey Egan, Jenney Egan, Delton Jr. Egan, Della Whiting, Dana Egan, Jason Nickolauson, Nicole Garner, Amanda Sisco, Daniel Nickolauson, Sarah Nickolauson, Jamie Nickolauson, Nathan Nickolauson, Tamarra Netzloff, David Netzloff, Melissa Netzloff, Samantha Christian, Cory Christian; 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Verna is also survived by her twin brother, Vernon Egan and by many other relatives and friends.
