Mitchell Albert Kent was born in Cambridge, MN, on September 12, 1990, to William C. Kent and Billie Jean (Hirsch) Kent. He grew up on Rush Lake, where he was frequently found on a dock fishing. Six and seven pound bass were fun to catch and release, and the BIG muskie was an adventure to brag about for a lifetime. At 14, he paid to get it mounted with his own money. Summer or winter, Mitchell’s mission was goin’ fishin’! Mitchell’s father passed away when he was nine years old. Russell Asmussen then became his step dad. They enjoyed deer hunting together each year north of Mora.
Mitchell attended St. Mary’s Catholic school in Pine City, MN, and then Rush City High School and Pine City ALC. He graduated in 2009. Mitchell loved to cook. He did a home school course in foods instead of study hall, when the school discontinued “Home Ec” classes. He was an especially great chef from his young life and into adulthood. He spent many years in foodservice, from fast food to nursing home food service supervisor, to gourmet winery kitchen manager.
Mitchell was a kind hearted person, who would do anything to help others. He had a quick smile and a twinkle in his eye. His friendly casual style put people at ease. Mitchell’s knack for gaining cooperation and coordinating group efforts made him a natural manager in the kitchens and everywhere.
Mitchell married the love of his life, Moriah Freeman, along with her daughter, Liberty, on September 29, 2018, at the Swedish Church in Trade Lake, WI. They made their home in Pine City, MN, until separating in January of 2022. Mitchell then moved back to Rush City.
Mitchell is survived by his mom, Billie Jean Asmussen, his step-dad, Russell Asmussen, his siblings, Dalton Kent (and Dina Orr), Josie Kent, Jessie Kent, Gage Asmussen, his Grandmother, Marian Kent, Grandfather, Charles Hirsch, his wife, Moriah Kent, Step daughter, Liberty Freeman, eleven aunts, six uncles, and forty-five cousins, and a multitude of friends, Homies, and Juggalos.
He is preceded in death by his father, William C Kent, his Grandfather, Rhineheart Kent, his Grandmother, Donna Hirsch, his aunt, Cathy Hirsch, his uncles, Jerry Wilden, and David Kent, his cousin, Kriston Anderson, his “brother”, Jacob “Fizh” Strike.

I just recently met Mitchell(aka Shawn aka Eric aka”$quarrel”-ALL TRUEST & THE FORMED LEADER OF A CLAN CALLED “TW1’s”) in the beginning of Winter ’22. He tugged at My Sincerest String. Empathy. We formed a bond he and I. As we both suffer from thw same illness. Alcoholism. Or “Ism” as He stated 2 me one night. He has such a Intelligent form of displaying Himself and Jackie J. as completely capable to handle his own. We had some Real times, and We also had some not so real times. But ALL IN ALL SQUARREL WAS A LEADER TO MANY OF US. IT SADDENS MY SPIRIT TO KNOW THAT HE COULDN’T GET THROUGH THE MESS HE HID FROM ALOT OF US…but I’m positive He has landed in a Great Land of foraging and Leasure. With His pops on 1 side and F1$H on the other. My Sympathy goes out to His ENTIRE FAMILY(BOTH BLOOD & WATER) I LIT THE FIRE TO GET HIM LIGHT THE DAY HE PASSED. AND IT WAS OUT WHEN I ROSE THIS MORNING. R.I.P. MY Friend and Stay True to the Jugg’s Homie! 143 Brother. Always Loyal, “DD” Donnie
