Loren Stender, age 79, of Andover passed away May 22, 2023. Visitation beginning at 10:00 AM with Memorial Service 11:00 AM Thursday, June 8th at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 700 Western Street, Anoka. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in North Branch Township at a later date. If you desire, memorials suggested to Mount Olive Lutheran Church or American Cancer Society.
Loren Harold Stender was born June 9, 1943 in Young America, Minnesota to Edgar and Elsie (Herrmann) Stender. He attended grade school in Young American and then at age 12 his family moved to Frazee, Minnesota. Loren enjoyed working at his parent’s resort, Stender’s Resort on Rose Lake selling bait and cleaning boats. Loren graduated from Frazee High School in 1961. Loren then served his country in the US Navy from 1964 to 1968 followed by attending Anoka Ramsey Community College. On June 17, 1984 he married Donna Boettcher at St. John Lutheran Church in Weber. They made their home in Andover and were members at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Anoka. Loren was also a member of the Anoka American Legion Post 102. He worked as an Optician in Anoka, at North East Optical in St. Anthony, and St. John Clinic in Maplewood. Loren enjoyed hunting, traveling, collecting miniature cars and especially fishing.
Loren passed away May 22, 2023 at the age of 79 years at Good Samaritan Society in Robbinsdale. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Loren Falck.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna; sister, Evonne (Rev. David) Bode; nieces and nephews, Tim (Mary) Bode, Rebecca Bode, Elizabeth (Dan) Esch, Steve Bode, Chris Falck, Jackie Wagner, and Michelle (Kevin) Olson; and by many other relatives and friends.
