Todd is survived by his wife Jill White, children Krissa (Mark) Byom, Melissa (Joel) Varner and Brian (Katy) White. He also had 6 grandchildren, William, Ryland and Adalyn Byom; Treyson and Finnick Varner; and Carter White. Todd is also survived by his mother-in-law Joyce Harapat, siblings Kelly (Maryanne), Jolayne (Bill), Colleen, Scott (Sue) and Dede (Jeff); as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who held a very special place in his heart and who he made many lasting memories with throughout his life. Todd was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Virginia White and his father-in-law James Harapat.
Todd was born on August 19, 1958. Todd graduated from La Follette High School in 1976. He was an active member of A Cappella and was very proud to be part of the first choir to travel to Europe and perform in places like Notre Dame.
In 1978 Todd moved to the Hinckley area where he met Jill and they were married on February 21, 1981. This is also where Todd began his work with the Department of Human Services. Todd was proud of the work he did at the State Hospital in Moose Lake, MN from 1982 – 1995 and then continued his work with the MSOP program in Moose Lake from 1995 – 2015 when he retired.
Todd’s biggest area of pride was the family that he and Jill built. They raised their three children in Hinckley, MN. The family spent many summers road tripping throughout the United States in their conversion van. Todd also spent many nights supporting the kids from the bleachers of a gym and the seats of an auditorium. He was so excited to become a grandfather and loved being a part of their lives.
Todd was often referred to as “Joe Hinckley”. He was an active member in many community organizations and his empathetic personality shone through his work with the Lion’s Club, School Board, Hinckley Volunteer Fire Department, PHASE and being an active member at First Lutheran Church. Todd also spent many summer hours on stage performing musicals with the Sandstone Community Theater and “talking smart and telling lies” when fishing for Bass and Crappies on Clear Lake.
Todd was able to spend the final chapter of his journey in the comfort of his home. This was possible through the help of many family members and special friends, as well as the compassionate care of the health workers at St. Croix Hospice.

Dear White Family,
I am so very sorry for your loss of your husband, father, grandfather and brother Todd. I went to St. Dennis and LaFollette with Todd and went to Europe with the choir also. Todd was a kind and fun guy. It was impressive to hear what a wonderful life he built. He will be certainly missed by his family as well as many, many others.

My favorite memory of T-O-Double-D was sitting on their deck in Hinckley, eating fresh tomatoes from the garden, and talking about Josh Turner’s music. Todd looked at me and said “will you go with me?” And we were all confused thinking he was asking me to a concert with him 😂 I also vividly remember Todd and Jill hootin and hollering and having a grand time at Erica and Adam’s wedding. Todd was one of a kind. He will be missed, but lives on in the family he created.
Thinking of the entire family and holding you in my heart.
Love,
“The Pitcher”

I am saddened to know that the physical world will never be the same without Todd’s laughter and humor. My family is connected to the White family when they moved to St. Dennis. Jeanne and Jolayne, me and Todd, and Susi and Dede.(of course Linda & Colleen and Kelly are in the St. Dennis family mix, but they weren’t in the same class…) I loved catching up with Todd at our 8th grade reunions and then adjourned to the beer tent. Then also at our LaFollette Class Reunions. It would be as if time had not passed. His gentle soul will always be a part of me. I am sending all his family HUGE HUGS.

My deepest sympathy and sincere prayers to all of Todd’s family. He was a St. Dennis and LaFollette classmate. Although I was not part of the LaFollette choir, I did know he was gifted with a wonderful voice. Rest in peace, Todd.

Todd ALWAYS made me laugh with some goofy greeting. His support and friendship during my years teaching and coaching in Hinckley were more appreciated than I can convey to all of you. His strength and love shows in the family he and Jill built. My love to all of you.

I am so sorry to hear of Todd’s passing. I worked with him at Moose Lake MSOP. Todd always kept the office “light”. He would share a funny story or an item from the news. He’d always leave by saying, “ and now… I go”. I wish Todd would have been given many many more healthful years to spend celebrating his family and making trips to Red Rocks to share his love of music. Todd’s memory will always be a blessing. Hugs and hope to Jill and the kids (and grandkids).

I’m very sad to hear this. Todd was a very special guy. When I moved to Madison during my sophomore year I felt very much alone. Todd was one of those that help change that. He was one of the first to “include” me. That was very nice and very much appreciated. RIP my friend, and thoughts and prayers to all his family.

I have so many memories. Singing with First Word and our First Lutheran choir was an absolute joy. Mostly because Todd always had something funny to say. He also was a talented voice in these groups. We served together on the PHASE board for many years. I was always amazed at his very compassionate thinking. There was always a solution in Todd’s mind no matter how challenging the issue. I was honored to call him my friend.

Dear White Family,
I am so sorry to hear about Todd’s passing. He was a great guy as you all know. I was teacher and coach at HFHS and Todd always listened and made me laugh. He’d ref some of our basketball games and was a great support in the school and community. He always had a clever comment and could help you flip your perspective. Such a great spirit. He will be greatly missed.

Dear Jill and family: We are so sorry for your loss and send our prayers. I had the privilege of working with Todd at Moose Lake. He always wore an infectious grin and you knew he was up to something ‘unclassified’. His presence and laughter immediately filled the room upon his entrance. He cared deeply for his clients as well as the professionals he worked with. Later, we were blessed to have him attend our church on several occasions. Truly, a Man of Character that is difficult to find today. May he now rest in peace, and may you now have the time to reflect on all the wonderful times you and others experienced with him.

Dear Jill and family,
Mark and I just heard about Todd’s passing. We want to tell you and the girls that we’re thinking of you. Mark has many happy memories of Todd from when they were kids. I think our first date was when we went out with you and Todd. He was a funny, kind man. He will be missed. We know the beautiful memories you all have made over the years will help you through difficult times.
He will be remembered fondly by so many. We celebrate a life of love and kindness and one well lived. Take care.
