Shirley J. Hoff, age 87, of Andover and formerly of Isanti died November 4, 2023 at The Farmstead. Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on November 18, 2023, at The Farmstead, 13733 Quay Street NW, in Andover. A time for visiting will be held one hour prior to the service.
Shirley Joanne Hoff was born February 10, 1936, to Melvin and Miranda (Ruud) Knutson in Sunburg, Minnesota. She was raised in Sunburg and graduated from Sunburg High School in 1953. In 1954, she married Elvin “Al” Sorenson, and they made their first home St. Paul. They moved several times before buying a farm just west of Isanti. Shirley worked as a caregiver at the State Hospital in Cambridge and Willmar. She moved to Isanti in 2001 and attended Elim Baptist Church where she made many friends. She volunteered at the Arbor Room at Cambridge Medical Center. Her final home was The Farmstead in Andover. She enjoyed her kids and grandkids, gardening, reading, and was a very competitive card player.
Shirley died November 4, 2023, at The Farmstead in Andover at the age of 87 years. Besides her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Gregg Sorenson; daughter, Gail Baublitz; grandson, Nathan Sorenson; siblings, Elmo (Verna) Knutson, Ardis (Gene) Rognas, James (Pat) Knutson, and Kenneth Knutson; and former husband, Al Sorenson.
Shirley is survived by her son, Gary (Brita) Sorenson; daughter, Gwen (Dan) Flaherty; grandchildren, Aaron (Jamie) Sorenson, Adam Sorenson, Aric (Lisa) Sorenson, Ashley (Travis) Sutherland, Kyle (Amie) Flaherty, Keni (Josh) Freitas, Daniel Green, Josh Baublitz, Jordan Baublitz, Jessi Sorenson and Jo Sorenson; many great-grandchildren; sister, Darlene Komar; son-in-law, Randy Baublitz; sister-in-law, Charlene Knutson; and many other relatives and friends.

I will always remember Shirley! Her warm heart and her smile would light up the room!
The girls and I would giggle like schoolgirls when her son and grandsons would come to visit. We knew she had the most handsome men in her life!
We will see each other someday again. I pray for peace for the entire family.
