Jean A. Worthington, 86 year old resident of Lake George in Cedar, MN passed away November 11, 2023 at Park River Estates Care Center in Coon Rapids. A funeral service will be held at 3 PM on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in East Bethel, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Jean was born on December 31, 1936 in Bottineau, ND to Verdine and Helga Olson. She was united in marriage to Jim Worthington on June 9, 1956 at Zion Lutheran Church in North Minneapolis. The couple raised three boys in NE Minneapolis before moving to Cedar, MN in 1973. Jean worked at Medtronic as well as various other occupations. She retired in 1992 and the couple traveled extensively, including a trip to Barcelona, Spain and wintering in Fort Myers, FL. Jean was a full-time grandma and attended many of their activities. She enjoyed going to Bible study, shopping, crossword puzzles, and Sudoku.
Jean is survived by her loving husband, Jim Worthington; sons, Jim (Linda) Worthington, Greg (Penny) Worthington, Mike (Theresa) Worthington; sisters, Mary Warner, Betty (Bill) Schindel; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Larry Olson, and Steve Braun.
My condolences to the family. Jean was one of those special ladies on Lake George, always with a smile, willing to help where needed for community events. RIP after a long journey with dimentia!
