John M. Kurzhal, age 54, of Andover, died December 23, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 2nd at Strike Life Tributes in Cambridge. A time for visiting will be held one hour prior to the service.
John Matthew Kurzhal was born August 25, 1969 in Biloxi, Mississippi, just 8 days after Hurricane Camille. Dad and Mom moved us to Minnesota when John was four years old, so Minnesota was his home. He was always such a calm, relaxed person all of his life.
Just as most people, John had his immediate family, Mom, Dad and siblings, but he also had his other family; his partner, Larry and his three children. John helped raise Larry’s children and he cherished them all. Every one of these people gave John courage and enjoyment every day. He was never one to complain about anything. He met so many people along the way that will miss him because of the impression he made upon them.
John will be missed by so many people. He is no longer in pain and he is now laughing, smiling and dancing in heaven.
He died December 23, 2023 at the age of 54 years. John is preceded in death by his father, Leo Kurzhal.
John is survived by his mother, Theresa; sisters, Deb, Linda, Lois, Kathy, Rosemary, Becky; brothers, Paul, Leroy; his partner, Larry and his children, Scott, Nicole, Colleen and their families; and by many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
I’ve not seen my cousin John in many years. I would occasionally run into him downtown years back while he was on a break I assume for lunch from his job and I was on my break as well from my job working on construction projects in the downtown area.
I can’t even remember how long it would have been since seeing one another at a family reunion.
No matter how big the family is or how spread out we all are, we are still family. it is sad to see a relative pass at such a young age.
