Larry worked as a Contract Engineer at Tri-State Drilling in Hamel for 33 years. He loved his work and traveled the United States and the world on his job, making many lifelong friends along the way. One of his career highlights was spending time on a job in Africa.
His love for fishing, hunting and golfing also brought Larry far from home, hunting in South America and fishing and golfing throughout North America. His fishing team entered the renowned Bisbee’s Marlin Tournament in Los Cabos, Mexico in 1990 and took home first place. He loved fishing for walleye in Canada and enjoyed bringing his grandsons along.
In retirement, Larry and Betsy traveled the world. Their trips to China, Europe, Africa, Australia and New Zealand were memorable. Their river cruise in Germany on the Rhine River was especially memorable. He loved to spend time with his six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Rose. He is survived by three daughters Pam (Kevin) Schotzko, Julie (Tom) Koplitz and Shannon (John) Garza, his brother Wendell (Jean) Gordon and sister Cynthia (Charles) Barbarisi, grandchildren Adam (Shayla) Schotzko, Leslie (Trevor) Eiler, Michael (Amanda) Koplitz, Timothy (Adrienne) Koplitz, Eric (Calli) Koplitz, Noah Garza, Samantha Garza and great grandchildren Callen and Cameron Schotzko, Nolan and Addison Koplitz and Jackson Koplitz.
