Rodney Lee Nelson, age 71 of Cambridge, went home to the Lord on January 30, 2024 surrounded by family. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 9th at New Hope Community Church Cambridge Campus. A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 8th at Strike Life Tributes in Cambridge and also one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
Rodney Lee Nelson was born Dec. 10, 1952 to parents Clarence and Lorraine Nelson. He lived in Isanti, Minnesota and attended school in Isanti and Cambridge where he graduated in 1971. After graduation he joined the Navy and proudly served for 3 years. He worked at the Isanti Charcoal plant while he attended Anoka Technical College, training to be a welder. He was a welder until he retired. His hobbies and talents included making model cars and airplanes, photography and drawing. He was an avid TWINS and VIKINGS fan. Living in Cambridge for the past 30 years, he made many friends.
Rodney went home to the Lord on January 30, 2024 surrounded by family at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 20 days. He is preceded in death by his mother and father.
Rodney is survived by his sister, Sharon (David) Gusk; brothers, Doug (Kathy) Nelson, Don (friend, Lynn Neifert) Nelson; many nieces and nephews.

So many fond memories of Rodney coming to visit Sherman , me and all five kids when they were little. It didn’t matter where you ran into Rodney he would always come talk to you and ask how you were doing he will be missed by many!

So sad to hear of Rodney’s passing! He was always so sweet and kind to visit my parents every now and then. Many fond memories of huge Nelson family gatherings at Uncle Ben and Aunt Ellen’s farm and playing with our second cousins!
