Sandra “Sandi” May Peterson, age 82, of Dalbo died February 1, 2024 at home. Memorial service 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 6 at Salem Lutheran Church in Dalbo. A visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. You are welcome to join the family for a luncheon after the service at Shooters Sports Bar in Princeton. Interment will be at a later date in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
Sandi was born May 17, 1941 in Cambridge, Minnesota to Otto and Hazel (Sandell) Sjoquist. She attended school in Dalbo though the 8th grade and then attended Cambridge High School, graduating in 1959. In 1960 she married Roger Lawrence Peterson and they started their family having two sons while Roger was in the service. After Roger was discharged, they lived in Hopewell, Virginia. They moved back to Minnesota in 1965, living in Princeton and then Dalbo since 2004.
Sandi worked at Federal Cartridge. She was a bus driver for the Princeton schools for 20 years followed by driving for the Cambridge schools in retirement. “Bus Driver” does not do justice for she would bring a bag of peanut butter sandwiches every morning to share with the kids who had not eaten and even purchased coats for those without one. She owned “The Corner Acre” where she created the Acre Burger which is still talked about today. She was a social person who loved visiting with almost anyone, telling stories, and meeting new people. She enjoyed a good cup of coffee and a great happy hour. She was creative, crafty and artistic. Sandi enjoyed reading and wrote her own book, The Lutefisk Ghetto. She cared for others and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her son, Mark (May) Peterson; five siblings, Mary Ann (Joe) Shelton, Thomas Sjoquist, Peter (Jan) Sjoquist, Joy (Roy) Collin, and Lynda (Stephen) Albaugh, great grand-daughter Amelia Szenay; special friend, Dave Orgon; and by many other relatives and friends. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; son, John; siblings, Steven Sjoquist, Audrey Pulm, James Sjoquist and Samuel Sjoquist; sister-in-law, Margaret Sjoquist; and brother-in-law, Bill Pulm.
