Darlene L. Pearson, of Cambridge, passed away May 13, 2024 at the age of 88.
Darlene was born April 30, 1936 near Mora, Minnesota to Theodore and Mary (Elling) Althoff.
Darlene was baptized into the family of God as an infant, and through the ups and downs of her life witnessed to the forgiving love of Jesus.
Darlene graduated from Mora high school. She married after high school and lived the life of a farmer’s wife, trying to balance raising children, managing a household, and being available on the farm wherever help was needed To help pay the bills she also worked several jobs outside the home. Somehow she made time and found energy to attend her kids’ school programs and athletic events, volunteering at church, and getting the kids to Sunday School.
She loved serving in many ways at Cambridge Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School, participated and took leadership roles in Bible studies, WELCA women’s activities and several other ministries of the congregation. For a time, she was a member of the staff at the church as a coordinating volunteer coordinator.
In her 50s Darlene made a career change, returning to school and becoming a nurse. She eventually remarried. But still she made time for gardening, needlework, and caring for her grandchildren. She also made opportunities to fulfill a childhood dream of traveling overseas.
Darlene was fiercely proud of her children and grandchildren, encouraging them when they wanted to try new things, and quick to forgive them when they made mistakes.
In recent years Darlene was afflicted with dementia. Her family is sincerely grateful to all the caregivers who looked after Darlene’s needs, especially the kind staff at Walker Methodist Levande.
Darlene will be lovingly remembered by her six children, Kory (Cindy) Boster, Gregg (Jane) Boster, April (Peter) Nolen, Jeff (Heidi) Boster, Melita (Rafael) Rola, and Todd Boster; four siblings, Alvera Posey, Arnold (Diane) Althoff, Joann Breska, and Robert (Kris) Althoff; sister-in-law, Janet Althoff; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and by many other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her late husbands, Marlyn Boster and Bob Pearson; infant son, Barry; three siblings, Roger, Mark and Gordon Althoff.

I enjoyed working with Darlene at Cambridge Lutheran. She was also willing to help with anything. She will be dearly missed.
