Dorothy Evelyn Johanson Ellingson was born December 18, 1929 in the village of Isanti to Ruby and Yngve Johanson. Dorothy grew up in Isanti and attended school in Isanti and Cambridge. On August 30, 1947 she married M. Dean Ellingson at Faith Lutheran Church in Isanti by Rev. Rudquist. They made their home east of Isanti on the farm Dean was born on. In 1996 they moved to Cambridge. They were married 61 years when Dean passed away in 2008.
Dorothy and Dean spent winters traveling. Arizona was their winter home for over 40 years. Dorothy continued wintering in Arizona until she was 87 years old. She loved playing cribbage, cards but most of all dancing and being with her friends. She was also a good bowler and had several 200 games.
Dorothy died May 26, 2024 in Helper, Utah at the age of 94 years. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean and sisters, Lorraine and June.
She leaves to mourn; her children, Michael (Jean) Ellingson of Brook Park, MN, and Joni (Keith) McCullough of Helper, Utah; 5 grandchildren, Devin, Matt and Mindy Ellingson and Chad and Tennille McCullough; 6 great-grandchildren, Gabriella O’Bryan, Jake and Jason Bohman, Mac, Lexi and Cooper McCullough; brother, Kenneth (Jo) Johanson; sister, Jean (Dave) Swanson; and by many other relatives and friends. Dorothy lived to see 5 generations of her family three times.
Our sympathy to your family. What a bright and cheerful lady she was and made it to 94 ! We remember Dean and Dorothy dancing and how we enjoyed them on the dance floor. Good memories of a great lady…..
