Thomas (Tom) Ross Johnson took his first earthly breath on November 10, 1963. He took his first heavenly breath on June 23, 2024. He was surrounded by his family and friends and passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus.
His Grandmother was in the first class to attend West Riverside School and Tom was in the last class to attend. The one room schoolhouse closed, and Tom started second grade at the “big” school, Cambridge Elementary. He made many lifelong friends.
While Tom enjoyed traveling, he never strayed too far from the land that has been in his family for generations. The place he called home. The place where he was raised and raised his boys, and now his grandchildren are living on the land and roaming free.
Tom was the “T” in TM Johnson Bros., Inc. He felt training was so important that it was a requirement within the company. This training led Tom to a new adventure, training other contractors throughout the country on the importance of properly analyzing a home for carbon monoxide leaks and how to protect the customer and their family. He loved it. Shortly before his journey to heaven, he sold the business to a TM Johnson Bros. employee, with great confidence that the business will continue to excel under her leadership.
Tom loved anything outdoors. He had toys and equipment for any adventure. Boats, his beloved Harley, snowmobiles, 4-wheelers, water skis, downhill skis. You name it, he had it, or was on his way to buy it. He enjoyed playing in the beautiful nature God created.
Tom was community minded and active in many areas over the years, including, Cambridge Christian School, New Pathways, Isanti County Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, Cambridge Economic Business Development, North Isanti Baptist Church Men’s Ministries, Minnesota Boys State and many more.
He had a soft spot for the hurting. His passion was teaching and mentoring men who were struggling. He would quietly come alongside and walk with them. Many were invited to stay with him at his home while they got back on their feet. He faithfully served a men’s breakfast in his garage and finished with a Bible study every Thursday morning for more than 20 years.
Tom has been greeted at the heavenly table by his dad, Robert W Johnson; his mom, Evelyn Jain Johnson; his brothers, David and Chuck; and many other relatives and friends.
He is holding seats at the table for his wife, Corrie; son, Tanner and wife, Candice and grandchildren, James, Melanie and Michael Nelson; and son, Alex Moses. He also has spots saved for his brother, Paul (Lisa), David and Casey, brother, Mark; sister-in-law, Patricia, Blake (Anna), Perry (Maggie) and many more of his family and friends. And, as Tom would say, “There’s always more room at the table”. He’s holding a spot for you too.

I will always remember Tom as a person who loved people and loved God. He was all about sharing his faith with any and everyone. He had a kind heart and believed in the best in people. He put his faith into action by helping those in need. He had an amazing memory and could name customers by full name just based on a short description of their utility room. He saw potential in me when he hired me at TM Johnson Bros some 6 years ago. With no experience, Tom trained me and trusted me enough to put me in the field. I will forever be grateful to him for that. You will be missed, Tom. I know we will see each other again. May God’s peace be with your family and friends who miss you.

We knew Tom before Corrie and we knew Corrie before Tom. They were made for each other. My last adventure with Tom and Corrie, which I understand they had many adventures through their married life, was to Branson, MO right after Tom’s 60th birthday. I’m so glad we were able to make that trip together. Tom was strong in his faith and shared it with others. He will be deeply missed but he is smiling down on Corrie and the boys! RIP Tom.

Tom was an amazing man. I was one of those that he Coached and tought many lessons in business. While living in California I only got to see him once a year at the annual NCI summit. Spending time with him on the phone several times a month was always a special treat. He was always willing to give advise and teach all that where willing to learn. He was one of the true trailblazer leaders in our hvac industry saving many of lives thru the safety part of our trade while at the same time improving people’s quality of life. He will be missed. I pray for continued love and strength for his family and friends. I will miss tom and his many stories until we meet again.

I really don’t know where to start. Tom was a great man that really loved his family, his business, his trade, his vocation, and his Lord. We work alongside each other at numerous industry events and I even had the pleasure of helping him as a business coach, mentor, and friend. Our wives, Corrie and Kelly, have become good friends with plans to travel together and enjoy some wine and licorice (inside joke) in the near future.
We planned to do much more working together for the industry, but God had another plan. I will miss my friend. Rest in peace, Tom. Say hello to Jesus and all my family members that have gone on before us. I’ll see you when I get there when God sees fit to let me in! Love you, Tom. Bless you Corrie and the rest of the family. There’s a great big party going on in Heaven, when a soul like Tom’s comes home!
