Gwendolyn Marie Hanson, age 92, of Cambridge died August 10, 2024 at Ecumen in North Branch. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 17th at Strike Life Tributes in Cambridge. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at 12:30 P.M. Monday, August 19th at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Gwendolyn (Gwen) Marie Hanson Hanson, born April 4, 1932 in Dresser, Wisconsin to Arley Ismel Hanson born June 12, 1899 and Adah Margaret Sorenson Hanson born July 11, 1911. Gwen was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Paul Arthur Hanson, her brothers Roland, Raymond, Milton, Laverne, Jack, sister Judy Kranitz, daughter-in-law Sheila (Radi) Hanson and son-in-law John Lane. Gwen is survived by her sons: Randahl (Randy) Hanson, Terry Hanson (Linda), daughters: Deborah (Deb) Lane (Jim), Paula Galbrecht (Dave). Grandchildren: Christopher (Chris) Hanson (Steph), Michael (Mike) Hanson, Dennis Lane (Leah), Angela (Angie) Hanson, Matthew “Matt” Lane, Mark Hanson, Melissa Brownell (Jeremy), Grace Galbrecht, and Mitchell (Mitch) Galbrecht. Great grandchildren: Conner Hanson, Leighton Brownell, Olivia Lane, Lila Brownell, Avery Brownell, and Gavin Hanson. Her sister Pauline Wodtke, brothers Richard (Dick), Derald, Russell (Russ), Warren (Doug) and numerous nephews and nieces.
Gwen and Paul were married in 1952 while Paul was serving in the Air Force primarily stationed in Victorville, CA. where their two sons were born. Upon leaving the service, Paul and Gwen moved back to Minnesota and took residence in Brooklyn Center where their two daughters were born. Gwen worked at a drug store in North Minneapolis called Kass Drug while Paul became a truck driver working for Berger Transfer, then moved on to Twin City Freight. After the birth of their second daughter Paul and Gwen moved to North Minneapolis in 1959, then 16 years later to Coon Rapids where they resided until 2018 when they moved to Cambridge, MN. Gwen enjoyed playing games including Yahtzee and Cribbage, working on puzzles, going to the casino and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
