Sharon Marie Long (Woltjer), RN, BS, MS, age 81, of Cambridge passed away in home hospice July 31, 2024. Private Service to be planned at a later date.
Sharon was born June 19, 1943 in St. Paul, Minnesota. She graduated from Clara City High School and Mounds Midway School of Nursing. She was devoted to the nursing profession and participated in many nursing specialties and was instrumental in establishing the “Nurse Line” for PHP, now called United Health Care. She completed her career as a Special Investigator for the MN Department of Health. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Survived by husband of 59 years, Allyn; son, Scott Allyn Long; daughter, Michelle Marie Nelson (Hanson); granddaughter, Bethany Marie Arenz; grandson, Connor Alton Hanson; great-granddaughter, Taitum Marie Arenz; brothers, Edward, Dennis and James; and sisters, Carol Wallenberg and Janice Johnson. Preceded in death by parents, Edward and Florence (Tague) Woltjer.

I met Scott in sixth grade and spent a great deal of time at their home in all the decades since. Sharon and Big Al were like an extra set of parents for me in those younger years, and they were both absolutely wonderful. My heart goes out to Al, Scott, Michelle, and all the others whose lives she touched. She will be missed.
