
Helen Mae Grams, age 93, of Cambridge died September 1, 2024 at GracePointe Crossing. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 20th at Faith Lutheran Church in Isanti. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be given to Cambridge Allina Hospice.
Helen Mae Christiane Mack was born July 23, 1931, in Fessenden, North Dakota to Gottlieb and Lillie (Schramm) Mack. She started school in North Dakota and then attended the Princeton, Minnesota schools since the 7th grade. She graduated from Princeton High School in 1948. On October 1, 1949, she married Merrill Grams at Zion Lutheran Church in Princeton.
In addition to raising five sons in the home, Helen Mae’s employment over the years included Dr. Pepper Bottling, Chisago Lakes Nursing Home, Nelson’s Country Market, and Almelund State Bank.
She enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, needlework with beading and sequins for calendars, gardening & canning, cooking and baking. She loved dogs and for years had a collection of salt and pepper shakers. Did we mention her favorite color is purple?
Her love for God and the Church was evident throughout her entire life as she impacted others with His love. Her beautiful smile could brighten anybody’s day. Helen played the organ and piano, and sang in the church choir with her sweet alto voice.
Helen passed away and entered glory on September 1, 2024, at GracePointe Crossing at the age of 93. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Merrill “Buddy”; brothers, Reuben and George Mack; sisters-in-law, Ramona and Charlene Mack; and brother-in-law, Ralph Raetzel.
Helen is survived by five sons, Darrell (Pat), Randall (Melodee), Scott, Jeff (Tami), and Joel; sister, Caroline Raetzel; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren (plus 3 on the way); and other relatives and friends.
Grandma Grams I’ll miss you. I will never forget at your house the cookie jar in the kitchen I believe it was strawberry ceramic cookie jar. You always had cookies in it and always good. And also remember the calenders you made every year also. And now you get to be with Grandpa Grams back together forever. Love you both.
Mr. Grams was my meal delivery buddy for many years. Helen became so special to me and my sons as well. She always had special treats for my boys and they loved her! I often asked about her skin care! She always looked so young! What a beautiful person inside and out! She will be missed!
