
Lowell E. Burkstrand, age 91, of Braham died December 25, 2024 at Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Strike Life Tributes in Cambridge. A time for visiting will be held one hour prior to the service.
Lowell Ellsworth Burkstrand was born July 26, 1933 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Ellsworth and Fern (Norton) Burkstrand. He was raised and attended school in Fridley. Lowell served his country in the US Army from 1954-1956. On July 25, 1964 he married Annette Rysdam at Maple Ridge Free Church. They have made their home in Braham for the last 56 years. Lowell worked in construction all of his working life. He enjoyed tinkering with wood, making birdhouses, dolls and other items. He also liked fishing and appreciated nature.
Lowell is survived by his loving wife, Annette of 60 years; six children, Scott Cooper, Machelle (Steven Winick) Burkstrand, Suzette (James P. III) Koenig, Rhonda (Jeff) Kieffer, LoAnn (Richard) Westerman and Lowell (Sonia) Burkstrand; grandchildren, Sophie Barich (Kelley Byron), James P. Koenig IV (Kari), Zachary Koenig (Melissa), Corey Kieffer (Tiffany), Aaron Kieffer, Timothy Burkstrand, Jessica (Justin) Noyed; seven great-grandchildren, Kaleb Daniel Koenig IV, Abigail Ruth Koenig, Chloe Anna Koenig, Maycee Ann-Marie Noyed, Brixton James Noyed, Harper (Kieffer) Lane, Libby (Kieffer) Lane; and by many other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, George and Judy Burkstrand.
Annette, it is hard to believe that it has been 60 years, may the joys you knew and the times you shared help comfort you at this sad time.
