
Richard August Hanson, age 88, of Brook Park died December 8, 2024 at home. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 18th at Strike Life Tributes in Cambridge.
Richard August Hanson was born May 28, 1936 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Oscar and Elsie (Erickson) Hanson. He grew up in Minneapolis and Spring Lake Park. In 1958 Richard married Barbara Beise at Calvary Lutheran Church at Rush Point. They started their family in Anoka and then moved to Isanti until retirement. At that time they moved to Brook Park. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, taking walks and trail rides in the woods, and feeding and taking pictures of all the deer.
Richard passed away December 8, 2024 at home at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 10 days. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Doug; brother, Orin; sisters, Shirley Peterson, Judy Dean, and Elaine Zimmerman; and brothers-in-law, Harold Peterson, and Clarence Zimmerman.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara; children, Cindy Anderson, Jeannette Hanson, Duane (Lisa) Hanson, Dale Hanson and Rodney Hanson; brother, Leroy (Marion) Hanson; brother-in-law, Preston Dean; 7 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
I remember Uncle Dick for many things, but especially his sense of humor. One day I saw him sitting on his back steps with a string tied to a stick and something fuzzy tied to the stick. I asked him what he was doing. “Fishing” he said. I said something intelligent like “Huh?” He said that they were biting pretty good too. Just then a cat hopped out and grabbed the fuzzy thing. Uncle Dick drew him in and then gently pulled the cat off. “Too small to keep” he said and went back fishing.
