
Marian Schonberg Erickson, age 95 of Cambridge, died September 29, 2025. Burial will take place privately at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Trout Lake Camps in Pine River, Minnesota.
Marian was born in January 1930 in Minneapolis to Emma and Charles Ojala. She graduated from Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis and from the University of Minnesota, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in home economics education. She married Chaplain James (Jim) M. Schonberg in July 1960.
She taught in the North St. Paul and Duluth school districts. While teaching at North St. Paul Senior High School, she was selected by the Future Homemakers of America (FHA) as an honorary member.
For twenty years, Marian and her family lived in Tacoma, Washington, where she worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital. Jim also served there as a chaplain. After his retirement, they returned to Minnesota and ultimately settled in Cambridge.
After Jim’s passing, Marian later met Bud Erickson of Cambridge, and they were married in July 2010.
Marian passed away on September 29, 2025 at the age of 95. Marian was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, and all of her siblings.
She is survived by her sons, Stan (Susan) and Ken (Jody), four grandchildren, and extended family.
