Linda Lou Merchlewitz (Johnson)
September 23 1948 – November 22 2025
Linda Lou Merchlewitz (Johnson), age 77, passed away peacefully at home on November 22, 2025.
Linda was born to Irene Johnson and Vernon Halvorson. She grew up in Gully, Minnesota and graduated from Gonvick High School in 1966.
On January 14, 1969, Linda married the love of her life, Harold Merchlewitz. Together they built a warm and welcoming home in Isanti, Minnesota, where they raised their four children—two sons and two daughters—as well as their niece, Celine. Linda devoted her life to her family, always offering love, guidance, and a place of comfort.
Linda was a homemaker and served her community as an EMT. She also spent many years working at Honeywell, Alliant Techsystems and Premier pontoon, where she was known for her strong work ethic, dedication, and steady presence.
Linda found joy in the simple, beautiful things in life. She loved animals of all kinds and had a special gift for nurturing her flower gardens. Her home was often surrounded by vibrant blooms, a reflection of the care and attention she poured into everything she touched. Her generosity was felt by all who knew her—Linda would help anyone in need, often quietly and without expectation.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Rodney; her grandmother, her parents; and other dear loved ones who welcomed her home.
Linda is survived by her husband, Harold; her daughter Lisa; her son Lawrence (Rachel); her daughter Teri (Warren); and her niece/goddaughter, Celine (Thomas), grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Sheila (Kyle), Jake (Makayla), Katlin (Brad), Michelle (Kyle), David (Taylor), Ryan, Ashley, Riley, Makailah, Jaiddyn, Ary, Zoe, Kylie, Ava, Cameron, Maddie, Jackson, and Koen. Cousins: Marsha (Michael), Susan, Phillip, Michelle, Melissa.
Linda was blessed with many nieces and nephews as well as close family & friends
She will be remembered for her kindness, her gentle spirit, and the deep love she held for her family. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
We are so sorry for the pain and loss your families are all feeling right now. Throughout the Bible, people who have passed on are often referenced as having fallen asleep. This is where I hope you find a little comfort. This is Jesus reminding us that death is not final. Those that have fallen asleep will awaken and be resurrected. In fact, they will be the first in line and the rest of us will be caught up in their resurrection. 1 Thessalonians 4:14: “We who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.” So, Linda, put in a good word and save us all a spot! Harold, you and Linda have always been kind to us, and we are glad we’ve had the opportunity to call you, not just family, but friends. It was nice to see you today and visit. Please, all of you, don’t hesitate to call if you need anything. We love you.
She was just so awesome! I’m so sorry for the entire family’s loss and I just can’t seem to find the words but I’ll always remember falling out of a tree when I was 6-7 and her looking at me and telling me.. well that was stupid! I never did it again! Painting of the LP tank, geese chasing us around the yard, hiding in the hay bales in the barn.. so many memories at a place Harold and Linda made a home for all of us. Prayers, hugs and much love to you all!
Without exception every time I ever saw her she had a smile on her face. My very first memory EVER was of her knocking on the front door and visiting my mother and I….. again a smile on her face, I could not have been more than three or four years of age. A sweet and gentle disposition. My heart pours out to her family and friends.
I am so sorry for your family’s loss. Linda was such a wonderful woman. Sending love, hugs and prayers to you all during this time.
I have great memories with Linda when I lived with her, her mother and great grandma Julia. We played together and played a guitar and sang together. We were raised on Norwegian food. We lived in a small town called Gully, Mn. I will never forget her. We kept in touch thru the years I miss her . I know she’s home now with her Mom Irene and her Grandma Julia.
I’m sorry for your loss, Lisa & family, your mom will be missed.
With love, Patti
I worked with Linda for many years at Honeywell and then Alliant Techsystems. We were both Assistant Coordinators and loved our jobs. She was very good at her job and we had a lot of enjoyable times. She will be missed. My heartfelt sympathy to her family.
