Kenneth H. Herzog, age 78, of Cambridge died December 27, 2025 at home. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 1 PM – 3 PM, with a short sharing time at 2:30 PM, Sunday, January 4th at Strike Life Tributes in Cambridge.
Kenneth Henry Herzog was born on November 3, 1947, in Glencoe, Minnesota, to Wilbert and Lucille (Hanson) Herzog. He graduated from Glencoe High School in 1965. He continued his education at Mankato State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 1969, and later completed his master’s degree in 1976.
Ken dedicated his professional life to education and supporting young people. He spent many years as a teacher at Jordan High School and Zumbrota High School, where he made a lasting impact on his students. He later served as a guidance counselor at Pine City High School, where he worked until his retirement. Ken was known for his calm presence, patience, and genuine care for the students he worked with throughout his career.
Outside of work, Ken enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved going out to eat and making others laugh. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandsons play sports, faithfully cheering them on at football, wrestling, basketball, and baseball games. He also treasured time spent at the cabin, where he enjoyed relaxing and making memories with family.
Ken will be remembered for his kindness, humor, dedication to education, and deep love for his family.
He is survived by his son, Corey (Amber) Herzog; brothers, Dennis (Charlotte) Herzog, Kevin (Michelle) Herzog, and Karl (Lori) Herzog; grandchildren, Drew, Ethan, and Brock; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
What a shock. Ken and I were friends from kindergarten on. Just saw him in September and we had a good long talk. He will be missed.
Love ya man you were one of the good ones. I heard you were a great teacher from a student of yours. Rest in peace
Had such a great visit this Sept…one of the great ones….he will always be “Moon Man” to all of us who knew him….will be sadly missed by so many of us…
So sad to hear. Can’t remember how he got the name “Moon Man” but he will be remembered as such. As Bruce said, he was one of the good ones. Rest in peace Ken.
He was one of the “good ones” with his smile and anchoring presence. So glad we had our reunion and I am sure he voted for it to be annually. He never missed. Rest in peace.
We talked at least twice a week. Always filling me in on his grandsons. If you knew Ken, you listened more than talked. He was so proud of his grandsons! I will truly miss our conversations.
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of my co-worker Ken! So many great memories of life in the guidance office with him. When he retired and I was giving my retirement speech about him (he didn’t attend, surprise, surprise), I compared him to an old song we both loved, Oh Very Young. His passing makes the words even more poignant… Ken was like your old favorite pair of blue jeans. You want them to last forever, but they never will and the patches make the goodbye harder still. Ken was steady and strong and a man of his word. As I go over our conversations these last couple of years, I am sorry they will be no more. My deepest sympathy to his family. The world is a little less bright this week.
Ken dedicated his life to teaching and supporting young people. He made a difference being positive and kind.
I’m so sad to hear of “Moon”’s sudden passing and also so grateful to have had a great visit with him at our 60th HS class reunion… He was one of the good guys…
Kind, fun, football player, great story teller, and friend! I’m sure he was an awesome Dad and Grandpa, and wonderful councilor. My condolences to his family.
We were very sad to hear of Ken’s passing. Lea and I extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Ken’s family during this difficult time. May you find comfort in cherishing and relishing the many wonderful memories of Ken.
Dennis, Kevin. Karl & Families sorry for the loss of your brother Kenneth.
