Gwendolyn Heffner, of Isanti, passed away on May 28, 2026, at the age of 87. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 5th at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Isanti. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Minneapolis at a later date.
Gwen was born on December 15, 1938, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Edward and Geraldine (Mashek) Martie. She grew up in New Brighton and St. Anthony, graduating from Marshall High School. On January 26, 1957, she married Nick Heffner, and together they raised their family in the northern metro. Gwen worked at Minco Products in Fridley for 30 years. After retirement, she and Nick moved to Isanti and enjoyed spending their winters in Alabama.
Gwen was well known for sending cards and letters to family and friends—whether to celebrate an occasion or simply to let someone know she was thinking of them. She also enjoyed nature, gardening, puzzles, and reading.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Chris (Nancy) Heffner, Wendy (Chuck) Wilson, and John (Michele) Heffner; 11 grandchildren; 21 great‑grandchildren; and one great‑great‑granddaughter; along with many other relatives and friends. Gwen is reunited with her husband of 65 years, Nick; her daughter, Catherine Montague; her parents; and her brother, Jack Martie.
