James Edward Gorman was born August 3, 1942 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Cletus and Ellamae (Durnin) Gorman. He grew up in St. Louis Park and graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1960. Jim continued his education at Dunwoody in the Printing program. On January 25, 1964 Jim married Sharyn Wire in Richfield. In 1975 they moved to North Branch where they have lived ever since. Jim worked as a printer for a few years and then became a truck driver. He drove for his father’s company, ACME Transfer and then Gateway/Fleming until retirement. He also had a hobby farm and over the years he milked cows, baled hay, had horses, beef cows and chickens. Besides enjoying his farming, he loved sports, horseback riding, fishing, deer and elk hunting and his 1932 Ford which he has had ever since graduating high school.
Jim passed away June 1, 2026 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital at age 83 with his family by his side. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerome Gorman, and sister-in-law, Rhoda Gorman.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sharyn; children, Robert (Cheryl) Gorman, Deb (Todd) Sorenson, Greg (Rhonda) Gorman, and Scott (Jennifer) Gorman; a brother, Jack (Elaine) Gorman; 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and by many other relatives and friends.
Jim has been a great neighbor and wonderful friend for the 35 years we have lived across the road from one another. We shared a mutual interest in cattle, hay growing, and garden vegetables and enjoyed helping each other out with these activities from time to time. I will really miss our driveway conversations.
Sharyn and family, we are so sorry for the loss of your husband, dad and grandpa. He will be truly missed.
