
Viola May Kallis, age 86, of Cambridge, MN, went to meet her Savior on July 14, 2026. Memorial services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, July 30, 2026 (her 87th birthday) at First Baptist Church, 304 Main Street South, Cambridge, MN. Visitation will begin at 10 am. She will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN at a later date. Memorials may be designated to First Baptist Church, 304 Main Street South, Cambridge, MN 55008 or American Cancer Society.
Viola was born on July 30, 1939, to Alfred and Mathilda (Geist) Ramminger in Hayward, WI. She was the fifth of eleven children.
Viola married Lester Kallis on October 23, 1968, and they made their home in St. Paul. In 1976, they moved to East Bethel where they enjoyed hobby-farming. She was employed as a private nanny in St. Paul, worked at Montgomery Ward in the catalog department, worked at several restaurants and later became a full-time homemaker. Vi enjoyed cooking, especially making fudge, and putting together puzzles. She was courageous, a warrior and survived leukemia. She was feisty, opinionated, sarcastic with little quips, a prankster and loved practical jokes. She loved to laugh and to make others laugh.
Viola is survived by her sisters and brothers, Wilfred Ramminger, Charlotte McCann, Rita (Don) Pappe, Susan (Pete) Priem, Leon (Maria) Ramminger, MaryAnne (Tom) Jolicoeur, and Allen (Loni) Ramminger. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, and sisters, Frances Ramminger, Marilyn Ramminger and Carol (Don) Peterson and sister-in-law, Sibylle Ramminger.
