Roger Wells Handel, age 72, of Isanti went home to his Mansion in Glory August 9, 2026. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, August 21st at Wyanett Evangelical Free Church, 7078 Highway 95, Princeton, MN. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Lunch will be provided after the service.
Roger Wells Handel was born December 14, 1953 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota to Roy and Helen (Mettler) Handel. He was raised in Floodwood and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1972. Roger helped on the family farm cutting and bailing hay and cleaning the barn. His first job at age 16 was as a Gas Attendant at Andy’s Gas Station. Roger continued his education, learning commercial and residential wiring and computer programing at Brown Institute. In 1975 he married Lois Metcalf at the Floodwood Bible Chapel. He moved to Isanti, MN in 1985 they attended Elim Baptist Church where Roger served as a youth leader, Awana Game leader, board member, choir, and other duties. Roger also attended Constance Free Church in Andover then Wyanett Evangelical Free Church. Roger retired from TCF Bank after they merged with Huntington Bank as a Mainframe Analyst Programmer. He enjoyed mowing lawn, watching TV & movies, car shows, camping, spending time with his extended family, and watching and supporting his kids in their pursuits, Sarah with her horses, Matthew with his soccer.
Roger went home to his Mansion in Glory August 9, 2026, at the age of 72. He is proceeded in death by his parents & brother, Charles Handel.
Roger will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lois; children Sarah (Russell) Nowland of Braham, MN and Matthew (Milagros) Handel of Wahiawa, HI; siblings, Harold Handel of Duluth, MN and Marlene (Steve) Scott of Floodwood, MN, and by many relatives and friends.
Uncle Roger always made you feel like you’re were important. His voice was a gentle one but yet at times he could get your attention. Many memories of traveling around with Matt, my Dad and Uncle Roger. I always looked forward to our visits growing up after moving to Isanti. He is already missed, still loved and I await the day we meet again in the presence of our Lord. Much love to the Handles
I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting and getting to know Roger’s awesome daughter Sarah. Prayers to your family.
Roger meant so much to myself and my daughter he was the heart granddad she didn’t have since hers live 3000 miles away.
He always were so helpful to me and taught me a lot. He was the fist I called when my daughter could ride her bike and he drove here in minutes to help cheer her.
Roger you are so missed and we love you.
Roger will be remembered for his welcoming & quiet kindness to all.
Roger had a heart of gold and always had a positive outlook on life. He could make you laugh or smile even if you didn’t feel like it. He was truly genuine and will be missed by so many.
